Profession: Dilara Afroz Khan, a highly accomplished academic, entrepreneur, & community leader with extensive experience in finance, education, & entrepreneurship. She holds a MBA (Finance) & a BS (Electrical Engineering), both from the State University of New York (SUNY), USA.Her education was financed by scholarships from IBM Corporation. Prior to transferring to SUNY, Dilara pursued Civil Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Currently, she is a graduate student of Personal Financial Planning (PFP) at Texas Tech University, pursuing a PhD in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Essex, UK; also working as a Lecturer at LCC, UK.
Dilara has held faculty positions at prestigious institutions-North South University (NSU), BRAC University, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), Institution of Business Administration at Dhaka University (IBA, DU). She has served in leadership roles- Director (Office of-Student Affairs, Career Services, Alumni Relations, Co & Extra-curricular Activities, Health and Wellness Center, Govt. Relations), where she led through empathy, passion & innovation bringing positive changes. At NSU, she was the Director of the Confucius Institute, where she played a key role in enhancing cultural exchange programs, earning global recognition for the Institute as the BEST Confucius Institute in 2016.
As an entrepreneur, Dilara is the director of successful companies-MARS Solutions Ltd., NRB Jobs Ltd., Cosmic Soup Ltd. Her corporate career includes-Vice President, IBM Credit Union, where she gained invaluable expertise in finance, management, & strategic leadership. She worked at IBM Corp., where her contributions spanned across research, engineering, & project management, setting the foundation for her entrepreneurial & leadership success.
Dilara has made significant contributions to community & social development. She founded the Ethics Club BD to promote ethical practices among students and professionals & has organized numerous national and international conferences, namely the First Non-Resident Bangladeshi (NRB/PBO) Conference. She is the Principal & Co-Founder of School of Performing Arts in NY, which preserves & promotes cultural heritage within immigrant communities.
Her leadership and dedication have earned her multiple accolades, including Proclamations from the New York City Council for her outstanding service to the Bangladeshi community. Dilara’s commitment to education, ethics, and community service continues to inspire future leaders and foster positive change in society.
